A labor (or birth) doula is a person, usually a woman, who assists the pregnant woman before, during and immediately after the birth of the baby.
Although not medically trained, our experienced, and certified, labor doulas can support you and your partner, helping to ease the anxiety every woman's experiences before and during labor, be it your first or fourth child. The doula provides physical, emotional and informational support and acts as an advocate for you with your health care team. She is knowledgeable about the techniques and interventions used and will explain and assist in any decision making process, so you can effectively concentrate on the job at hand: The labor and delivery of your new baby.
