As we enter a new year AND a new decade, Gentle Nurturing looks forward with great anticipation to many new changes and happenings, locally and as we continue spreading beyond Southern California.
We have always worked hard to communicate the issues and news surrounding Bisphenol-A information to you as it becomes available and we will continue to do so. This relates not only to baby bottles and toddler items but also to anything that may touch your lips or enter your body, as this is one of the most toxic chemicals in existence and we all need to work to eradicate its usage. Gentle Nurturing will persevere in its promise to provide you with the most current information on engendering and maintaining environmentally friendly standards for your life and home.
In that vein, we are excited to become the very first company to introduce to the U.S. the ONLY paper diapers that are actually biodegradable. They are the best sustainable paper option, manufactured in Denmark, and awarded the Nordic Swan Certification for responsible eco practices. We will begin taking orders within the next 2 weeks, so keep checking our on-line mercantile. We will be able to ship anywhere in the U.S. and as orders increase, prices will adjust accordingly.
Continuing with our commitment to providing environmentally friendly products, Gentle Nurturing is renting and selling breast pumps and supplies from a wonderful new, California-based company called Hygeia. The products are excellent—all reviews have been A+, and our prices are great. Because these pumps have proved to be so popular, there is currently a back order on purchasable pumps so if you are planning on ordering one, please place your order NOW!

Gentle Nurturing has always worked closely with A Mother’s Haven, a pregnancy and beyond store in Encino, California. The store’s new owner, Teresa Gonzcy, is excited about the new classes, products and programs she is bringing in and we wish her well. I will continue to teach for the store and be their #1 Lactation Consultant as well.
Speaking of classes, Temple Beth Hillel, located in Valley Village, California, is also adding a number of new classes to their program, and I will be teaching several of them. All of these classes are community-based and not limited to Jewish families.
All of the above programs will be included on our new Calendar of Events, to be updated on a regular basis, so please check it often.
When I am not wearing my hat as a health professional, I am busy helping to run the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry. This totally volunteer pantry has been in operation for more that a quarter of a century, and we provide non-perishable groceries to anyone in need in the east San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County. In 2009 we provided groceries to approximately 500 families a week, more than double than that of the prior year. I am a Board member, with the responsibility of coordinating volunteers who pack the groceries and to arrange for food drives.
You may be wondering why I am telling you this: Well, a new food company, Soup Kitchen, (www.SoupKitchenInc.com) has recently joined forces with us and I am so excited about them I wanted to share their product and let you know how you can help. They offer dehydrated soups that are all natural, vegetarian and absolutely delicious. For every soup package sold, an equal portion is donated to a food bank near your area. It’s a win/win situation: the hungry get fed and you enjoy scrumptious soup as well. You can order the Soup Kitchen products in our On-Line Mercantile by Clicking Here.
If you have anything you would like to include on the Calendar of Events, questions or any suggestions, fell free to email us at any time. We would like to receive feedback on the products that we are already selling or any great new sustainable items you think would do well in our mercantile.
Have a safe, healthy, peaceful new year, free from hunger and full of love.
From our family to yours,
Leslye Adelman
