Brit Milah (aka, Bris) means the "Covenant of Circumcision" in Hebrew. This covenant began almost 4,000 years ago in the Book of Genesis, when Abraham circumcised his son Isaac on the 8th day and later taught Isaac how to circumcise his own son. This has continued throughout the Jewish generations.
A Mohelim, who may be a rabbi or a physician, performs the Brit Milah and Gentle Nurturing can make the arrangements with most of the area Mohels. They may be consulted before the baby's birth and then are contacted after the baby is born to arrange the date and time of the Bris.
